Smart Reorder & Low-Stock Alerts: Restock Before You Sell Out

3 min read

Running out of a best-seller costs sales; overstocking ties up cash. The Reorder Suggestions page watches your stock against the last 90 days of sales velocity and tells you exactly what to reorder and how much. A daily check raises a low-stock notification when products fall to their reorder point, and from the suggestions list you can draft a purchase order for the right quantities in one click. It builds on Inventory Management and is available with the Products module on a connected Shopify or WooCommerce store.

How suggestions are calculated

For each product the platform measures how fast it sells (units per day over the trailing 90 days) and compares current stock to a reorder point. If you have not set one, it derives a sensible default — enough cover for about two weeks of sales, never below a small floor — and suggests an order quantity that restocks to roughly a month of cover. Set your own values to override the defaults for any product.

Reading the Reorder Suggestions page

The page lists only products that need attention, with a count badge at the top. Each row shows the product and channel, In stock, Sells/day, Days left before stockout, the Reorder pt, and an editable Order qty you can fine-tune. Out-of-stock rows are highlighted. When stock is healthy across the board you simply see “Stock looks healthy”.

Drafting a purchase order

Tick the products you want to restock, optionally choose a supplier, and click Draft PO. The platform creates draft purchase orders — one per sales channel — with your quantities pre-filled. Drafts are never sent automatically: you review and confirm them under Purchase Orders & Suppliers, then receive the stock when it arrives.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Set reorder points (optional)

Give your key products a reorder point, order quantity and preferred supplier; the rest use smart defaults.

  2. 2

    Get alerted

A daily stock check raises a low-stock notification — and a low-stock line in your dashboard Action Center — when products dip to their reorder point.

  3. 3

    Open Reorder Suggestions

Review what needs restocking, with days-left and suggested quantities.

  4. 4

    Adjust and select

Edit any order quantity and tick the items to buy; pick a supplier if you have one.

  5. 5

    Draft and confirm the PO

Click Draft PO, then review and send it from Purchase Orders.

Frequently asked questions

Where do “Days left” and the suggested quantities come from?

From your real sales: the system uses the last 90 days of orders to estimate how many units you sell per day, then projects when you will run out and how much to buy for about a month of cover.

Do I have to set a reorder point for every product?

No. Products without a setting use a velocity-based default. Set your own only where you want tighter control.

Does drafting a PO order stock automatically?

No. It creates a draft you must review and confirm under Purchase Orders, so nothing is sent to a supplier without your approval.

Troubleshooting

A fast-selling product is not in the suggestions.

Its stock is still above the reorder point, or its sales did not match by SKU. Lower the reorder point, or check the SKU matches between the order and the product.

Suggested quantities look too low for a new product.

With little sales history the velocity is near zero, so defaults are conservative. Set an explicit reorder point and order quantity for new lines.
